few significant changes in the way the product is presented to
customers. Until now…
The cylinder manufactured by Carbotainer means a revolution in the sector and the democratization of high technology: the lower investment cost now makes mass distribution to end customers of carbon fibre cylinders possible.
Listening to our customer’s requirements, Carbotainer presents its new innovative, modular, lightweight bundle: So light it allows carrying 26 units in a standard semi-truck.
Although the weight advantage is significant for any gas, this bundle made by Carbotainer has been specifically designed for lighter gases, such as Helium or Hydrogen, where the ratio between the weight of the content and the cylinder’s is insignificant. For H2, this ratio grows from 0,9% in traditional bundles to almost 3% with our new carbon fibre cylinders bundle.
Comparably to conventional steel bundles, Carbotainer has developed a lightweight modular bundle formed of composite material cylinders. It can be stacked and contains 18 45-litre cylinders 300 bar WP interconnected by a manifold, which make a single isolated tank of pressurized gas. They are placed in a honeycomb layout, thanks to the hexagonal form of its section, which means a great space advantage.
Made of galvanized steel of great resistance, with a total capacity of 810 litres, its nominal empty weight does not exceed 729 kg, less than half the weight of the conventional steel bundles. Now, pressurized at 300 bar, its capacity grows by a 50%. These characteristics give to this bundle an even higher efficiency in logistics and operation.

This innovative cylinder was designed especially for containing the most common industrial gases, both in mix and in their pure state. But it reaches its epitome when used for the lightest molecules, H2 and He, where 95 % of the transported weight belongs to the cylinder or tank. Our B50 carbon fibre cylinders, once filled with H2, weight 1/3 of the weight of a standard steel cylinder, making transportation cheaper and more efficient.
